Mountain Day in Japan

TrailRun

August 11th is a national holiday called Mountain Day in Japan. In May 2014 it was announced that Mountain Day will start being celebrated as a public holiday every August 11, beginning in 2016. In 2020, three holidays (Marine Day, Mountain Day, Sports Day) were changed due to the opening and closing ceremony schedule of the Tokyo Olympics.

And “Mountain Day” in 2020 will be Monday, August 10th, the day after the closing ceremony. As a result, 2020 will have three consecutive holidays, August 8th (Saturday), Closing Ceremony 9th (Sunday), and 10th (Monday = Mountain Day).

The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed due to the new coronavirus, but these holidays in 2020 have not changed. “Mountain Day” is a national holiday that means, “Thanks to the mountains for the opportunity to get to know them”. Unlike other holidays, there is no clear origin, such as a special event about the mountain, but it was made possible by various movements to make “Mountain Day” a national holiday.

There are many mountain-related events, so I think it would be a good opportunity to become familiar with the mountains.

I also ran for the trail this day.it was extremely hot on this day.
And my SUUNTO showed a temperature of 40C (104F)degrees.
However, when I entered the trail from a hot road, it was cool and comfortable.I am very happy to run freely.
